Magnetic Curtains Tutorial

What you will need:

  • Something metal.
  • Strong magnets.

I used this.  It is a 22 inch long piece of black metal with three screw holes.  I bought it at Ikea.  It was very cheap.  I had six that I was not using.  But you could use anything that is metal.  Sheet metal is a good option.  You can have the hardware store cut it in a strip or you can cut it with tin snips into whatever shape you would like. Use gloves that shit is SHARP. Then, just screw it into the wall.

The metal piece came with the white octagonal magnets.  They aren't very strong. You will need pretty strong magnets.  I bought 20 REALLY strong magnets for 10 dollars on amazon. Keep these away from children and pets.  If they swallow the magnets they will stick together and pinch intestines.

I sewed my curtains with no curtain rods in mind so it is just a straight panel.  Very easy to sew.

Since I had six metal pieces and two windows I used three on each.  I put one in the middle so I can close the curtains.  I have my windows open a lot so I'm not bothering to close them right now.

Here is what it looks like.

(Please ignore all the dog toys and the fact that I need to vacuum.)

Cheap and Easy.  Just like me.  Just kidding.  I'm not cheap.
